It’s gearing up to be a busy conference season for the team at Hey Neighbour Collective. We’re presenting at four separate events in Vancouver over the next few months, and one more in Toronto in February 2025. We’re looking forward to connecting with colleagues and we’re curious to see what we’ll learn and discover. Come say hello!

Livable Cities Forum 2024 – October 23-25

Hey Neighbour Collective’s Project Director, Michelle Hoar, will moderate a conversation between Madeleine Hebert (Senior Housing Specialist, Happy Cities), Anur Mehdic (Social Planner, City of New Westminster) and Sherri Crane (Manager, Housing Services and Engagement, Brightside Community Homes Foundation) about design and local government work on Day 2 of the conference, from 3:30-5:00 PM.

Canadian Human Connection Conference – November 4-6

The Canadian Human Connection Conference (CHCC ’24) is dedicated to exploring the critical role of human connection in promoting social, mental, and physical health. HNC’s Michelle Hoar and Happy Cities’ Madeleine Hebert will highlight housing’s vital role in health, showing how thoughtful design fosters social connections, resilience, and aging in place, while calling for collaboration among professionals across various fields.

Housing Central Conference – November 18-20

Hosted by the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA)

Michelle Hoar (Hey Neighbour Collective) and Madeleine Hebert (Happy Cities) will dig into the Building Social Connections toolkit, which integrates policy and design recommendations to enhance social connection, livability, age-friendliness, and resilience in multi-unit housing. Join the session (W21) on Wednesday, November 20th from 12:30-2:00 PM.  

Climate Action Dialogues – November 21/26/28

Hosted by Metro Vancouver

The next Climate Action Dialogue, on human health and well-being, will be held this November. Metro Vancouver debuted its Climate Action Dialogues in 2023 as a way to bring people together to learn about and discuss the economic imperatives of taking action on climate.

Surrey session

Thursday, November 21 from 12:00-1:15 PM (doors open at 11:30 am; optional 30-minute networking session to follow​) at the Surrey Civic Hotel in the Civic Ballroom.

Vancouver session

Tuesday, November 26 from 9:00-10:15 AM (doors open at 8:30 am; optional 30-minute networking session to follow​) at the SFU Morris J Wosk ​Centre for Dialogue in ICBC Salons 10-30.

Regeneration Forum – February 27-28, 2025
