Kishore Seetharaman

Kishore Seetharaman is a PhD candidate in the Department of Gerontology, at Simon Fraser University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Anna University, India and a masters degree in human-environment relations with a concentration in environmental psychology from Cornell University, USA.

Kishore’s areas of scholarship include environment, aging, disability, and design. His current research is on dementia and neighbourhoods, using qualitative visual research methods to explore the role of the outdoor environment in shaping the mobility of people living with dementia and their care partners. His research focuses on the lived experience of people living with dementia to understand how they move through and interact with the neighbourhood environment and how they perceive accessibility, navigability in their communities.

Kishore plans on continuing to build his career in academia and bring his knowledge of gerontology to the world of design and vice versa through future academic research and teaching. He hopes to build a program of research that bridges the worlds of architecture and gerontology and brings new perspectives on the intersections of aging, disability, the environment, and design.
