Dr. Kit Braybrooke
Dr. Kit Braybrooke is Hey Neighbour’s Senior Knowledge Mobilization Specialist, managing a portfolio of strategic approaches for the synthesis of academic research, practitioner insights and community stories across the network and beyond.
Kit brings 15 years of experience as a designer and researcher whose work explores urban futures that invite more-than-human communities (animal, vegetal, machine, and algorithmic) to walk together across new terrains. Their practice operates at the intersection of anthropology, design and feminist technoscience to explore inclusive innovation in networked public spaces – from libraries and living labs to digital platforms and temporary autonomous zones. In addition to their work with Hey Neighbour, they are Director of We&Us, a critical design studio which has explored co-creation for systems change in Europe, China and Canada since 2020. They serve on advisory boards for Art Tech Nature Culture and New Forms Media Society, and are a founder of the Digital Commons Policy Council. They hold a PhD Media & Cultural Studies, University of Sussex for ‘Hacking the Museum’, an ethnography of the power dynamics of public spaces for digital making in London museums including Tate Britain and British Museum.
Outside of work, Kit is an electronic music gatherer, long-distance cyclist and friend to all the world’s dogs, and their playful street art is often found in the least expected places.
