Dorin Mahdavi
Dorin is a research assistant with SFU’s Research Team for Hey Neighbour Collective. She conducts research focused on social housing policies and social connectedness in neighbourhoods.
Originally from Tehran, Iran, Dorin came to Canada to complete a Master’s of Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University. In her first semester, she worked as a research assistant for Community Housing Canada. There, her research focused on understanding how housing vulnerability is defined and how living in community housing buildings can be very different than living in market housing.
Dorin has a lifelong passion for travelling and is interested in the idea of human-centred city design, where plazas and other areas for spontaneous connection, are abundant.
